My artistic educational background includes attending The Alberta University of the Arts, formally ACAD. I studied design within ACAD’s Visual Communication Program. After 3 years of studying design/ illustration/ advertising, I decided to transfer to ACAD’s Fine Arts Drawing Program. I received my BFA degree within Drawing ‘07. In addition, I have always been interested in teaching art, and so I attended The University of Victoria, receiving my B.Ed. degree ’12.

Over the past few years my work has evolved from creating realistic works into becoming an abstract painter. My goal as an abstract painter is to create art that can be interpreted in many different ways. The art should make the person viewing it find emotional and thoughtful meaning within it. My job as the artist is to start that feeling and thinking process.

I am often creating works that have a vibrant colour palette. I use a variety of materials, such as, acrylic paint, ink, spray paint, glue, and paper. I apply the materials using most often a squeegee. I also utilize various brushes, to apply the paint in unique applications. I often mounted my work on panels or canvases. I am particularly interested in pulling the materials outwards/off the flat surface on the canvas or panel, into 3D space. The result is creating sculptural paintings. Recently, in some of my works, I have explored and utilized light to create shadows, as well as wind to create movement of the 3 dimensional parts.
